Hardly Strictly Bluegrass

It was a bright, sunny day in Golden Gate Park where thousands of people gathered for a free, all-day bluegrass festival: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Apparently some very wealthy guy funds the whole thing and I truly couldn’t be more appreciative of the opportunity to see so many great musicians in one day. The lineup was stellar, beginning with Laurie Lewis and ending with Robert Earl Keen. Somewhere in between we saw Keller Williams, John Prine, Bela Fleck, Gillian Welsh, and even a surprise appearance from Emmy Lou Harris. The highlights for me were John Prine’s Angel From Montgomery and every song by Robert Earl Keen since we found a great spot and danced our hearts out the entire time.
